Cedar Bluff girls fall to Sylvania, Collinsville captures win over White Plains in Collinsville Basketball Tip-Off Tournament

COLLINSVILLE – Cedar Bluff’s Audrianna Hargitt scored 22 points, Hannah Leach added 18 and Katie McGinnis had 15, but their efforts weren’t enough to capture a win in their basketball season-opener Monday. The Lady Tigers fell 77-69 to Sylvania in the Collinsville Tip-Off Tournament.

Sylvania (1-0) led throughout the contest. The Lady Rams held a 20-15 lead at the end of the first quarter and stretched their lead to 45-26 at halftime. Cedar Bluff (0-1) managed to cut Sylvania’s lead down to 56-48 at the end of the third quarter, but the Lady Rams were able to maintain their lead down the stretch for the final.

In the second game of the tournament, Fyffe defeated Valley Head 53-33, followed by Collinsville’s 55-41 win over White Plains in the nightcap.

Brittany Tidmore led the Lady Panthers (1-0) with eight points and 10 assists. Savannah Broyles and Kiana Ford both contributed nine points. Christy Cox came away with eight points and six rebounds.

Collinsville built a 15-6 lead at the end of the first quarter and led 29-15 at halftime. The Lady Panthers led 55-41 at the end of three quarters.

Tuesday’s tournament schedule includes Cedar Bluff against White Plains at 4 p.m., Fyffe taking on Sylvania at 5:30 p.m., and Collinsville tipping off with Valley Head at 7 p.m.
