SYLVANIA – The Collinsville Panthers swept a varsity basketball doubleheader Monday at Sylvania.

In girls action, Collinsville had a second-half surge to take a 59-33 win. The Panther boys followed that game with a 74-41 victory.

Christy Cox led the Lady Panthers (5-0) with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Savannah Boyles added 13 points. Kendall Willingham tossed in nine points. Brittney Tidmore tallied seven points and six boards.

The game was tied at 21 at halftime before Collinsville went on a 38-12 run in the second half for the final.

In the boys game, David Hernandez scored 21 points – all on 3-pointers – to lead Collinsville to a win in the nightcap.

Deshawn Moore finished one steal shy of a triple-double, with 12 points, 12 boards, nine steals and six assists. Davey Posey contributed 14 points and had eight assists for the Panthers (2-0). Daniel Bradford added 13 points.

Collinsville built a 41-22 advantage at the half and went on a 33-19 run in the second half for the final.

Both Panther teams get back in action on Saturday at Hokes Bluff.
