Rev. W. L. “Dub” Bridges, 82, Cave Spring, passed away Thursday evening, November 22, 2012, in a Rome hospital following a brief illness. Rev. Bridges was born in Munford, Alabama. As an ordained minister, Rev. Bridges had pastured a number of churches through the years, and at the time of his death, he was a member of the Benedict Baptist Church in Cedartown. Rev. Bridges was retired, having worked in carpet mills in our area, and for a number of years he was associated with Casey’s Grocery Store in Cave Spring. Rev. Bridges was a veteran of the U. S. Army, having served in Japan and Korea during the Korean War, and he loved nature, the mountains, and fishing.

Rev. Bridges is survived by his wife of 61 and a half years, the former Pauline Cromer, to whom he was married July 14, 1951; by his daughter, Mrs. Lisa Magee and her husband Louise of Armuchee; by his son, Danny Bridges and his wife Ginger of Cave Spring and by his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sheila Reeves and her husband Michael of Shannon, brother, Joe Bridges of Centre, seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Rev. Bridges were held Sunday afternoon, November 25, 2012, at John House’s Cave Spring Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Dunn officiating. Interment followed in the family lot of the Bethel Cemetery in Forney, Alabama.

Rev. Bridges was the son of the late Claude Bridges and the late Ruby Murner Bridges.

Rev. Bridges was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Bridges, sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Sue McCord and Mrs. Opel Hammitt.
