“We are pleased to announce that we have agreed to play North Alabama in 2013,” Koegel said. “I know that our fans, alumni and students will enjoy renewing one of our oldest rivalries in school history.”
The game will be played on Sept. 14, 2013, at Burgess-Snow Field at JSU Stadium in Jacksonville, and it will mark the 45th meeting between the two teams and the first since 2003.
The two teams first met in 1949, with the Gamecocks claiming a 12-7 win, and Jacksonville State has a 21-10-1 record vs UNA since the 1964 season. Jax State has won seven of the last eight meetings between the two teams, including seven straight from 1988 to 1992, the longest winning streak by the Gamecocks in the history of the series.
Jacksonville State will have the opportunity to play 12 games during the 2013 season and Koegel says he is hopeful to announce the full schedule in the coming weeks.
