Mrs. Arlene Carden Igou, 91, of Fort Payne, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at DeKalb Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Igou was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church of Fort Payne, where she was devoted to her Driskill-Wear Sunday School Class and her United Methodist Women's Circle. She was a talented cook and enjoyed preparing delicious meals for the family she loved. She was blessed with a green thumb and had an avid love of reading, traveling to the British Isles and the American west and camping across the United States. She loved the University of Alabama and was active for many years in the DeKalb County Medical Auxiliary.
Services were held Monday, Jan. 14, 2013 at the Wilson Funeral Home in Fort Payne with Revs. Ricky Smith and Jim Russell officiating. Burial followed at Glenwood Cemetery. Wilson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, online guestbook, www.wilsonfhinc.com.
Survivors include her loving husband of 70 years, Dr. R.A. Igou; son, Richard (Deema) Igou, Fort Payne; daughters, Susan Long, Fort Payne, Mary (Ben) Shurett, Boaz; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
