Mr. Bernard Davis Williams, 92 of Siler City, North Carolina passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Chatham Co. Hospital in Siler City, North Carolina. Mr. Williams was a native of Cherokee County, and was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church for 76 years. He became a church board member at the age of 19 and served on many church boards for over 50 years. He served on the ASCS committee for 2 years, was a member of the Hog Growers Association for 8 years and serving as the president. He later became chairman for the State Hog Growers Association for 8 years. He was elected by officials from Washington to serve on the National Hog Growers Board and served for 6 years. He helped build the boar test station, was a board member for many years, served as president for 1 year and as secretary for 4 years. He started a cemetery fund for both Fairview and Tates Chapel and served on both boards for many years. He was a member of the Farm Bureau for 52 years, was the county Vice President for 7 years, served as President for 7 years and served as Secretary of Treasury for 4 years. He was a stockholder of Public Gin for years and as treasurer for 8 years.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 13, 2013 at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. George Cobb and Rev. Ben Hogan officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Cemetery. Survivors include son, Billy (Brenda) Williams of Siler City, brother, John Williams, Centre; three grandchildren, three great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and special friends, Lathan & Matt Pruitt.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn Reid Williams.
Mr. Williams was the son of the late Fred Milford and Minnie Davis Williams.
