Lady Warriors open softball season with shutout at Fort Payne

FORT PAYNE – Tori Davis surrendered just one hit and fanned 12 to lead the Cherokee County Lady Warriors to a 14-0 softball win Monday at Fort Payne in five innings.

It was the season-opener for the Lady Warriors (1-0).

Madison Millsaps led the Lady Warriors at the plate, going 4-for-4 with four runs and two RBIs. Molly Brewer went 3-for-3 with four runs. Darbie Rosser was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and four RBIs. Davis went 2-for-3 with three runs and a RBI.

Madison Brannon, Kayle Moon, Chelsea Ray, Kari Arnold and Summer Smith each contributed a hit. Moon also had two RBIs, while Brannon, Arnold, Smith and Claire Chesnut each drove in a run apiece.

Cherokee County is scheduled to play at Saks on Tuesday beginning at 5 p.m. The Lady Warriors’ home opener is scheduled for Thursday against Southside at 4:30 p.m.
