“All of the girls were focused and continued to play aggressive, even when the games were close,” Cherokee County coach Amy Barnes said. “It’s hard to lose the first two games and then win the next three, but these girls were determined. It’s matches like these that make volleyball so fun.”
Kaitlyn Griffith led the Lady Warriors (11-6, 1-1) with 19 kills. Haley Highfield and Lauren Millsaps both added eight kills. Malorie Rosser came away with seven kills and four blocks. Cayla Machleit had 39 assists and Laura Rochester posted nine digs.
As a team, the Lady Warriors had 12 blocks and four aces.
Leading Alexandria (17-3, 1-1) was Monica Williams, who had 16 kills. Taylor Warren added nine kills and Kayla Howard had 15 digs. Lindsey Holtbrooks came away with 35 assists.
