Weekend Middle School Baseball Roundup: Centre Middle sweeps Cedar Bluff, splits with Hokes Bluff

Centre Middle School swept a doubleheader from Cedar Bluff on Friday, 9-0 and 7-6. The teams split with Hokes Bluff on Saturday. Warrior Black earned a 19-0 victory over Hokes Bluff, while Warrior Gold fell 5-4.

In the Warrior Black win over Cedar Bluff, Cade Gossett pitched a shutout in a five-inning no-hitter. Caleb Ransum and Jaren Lockridge had two hits apiece. Ransum also had two RBIs. Lockridge had a RBI. Jacob Graves and Jy Lockridge both added a hit. Grave scored two runs. Colin Edwards, Zae Wright, Mason Rodgers, Jaren Lockridge and Jy Lockridge each scored once.

In the Warrior Gold win on Friday, Ethan Johnson had the game-winning hit to send Anthony Dingler across the plate with bases loaded to break the tie in the bottom of the fifth. Jy Lockridge led the team at the plate by going 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run. Kyle Burgess, Chris Ray, Terry Stevens, Josh Dobbs, Hunter Vincent and J.R. Young each added a hit. Stevens had a RBI. Burgess scored two runs, while Stevens and Gunter Gable both had a run.

Seth Bishop and Austin Slayton split time on the mound for the Gold Team. Bishop recorded five strikeouts and Slayton added four.

On Saturday against Hokes Bluff, Mason Rodgers pitched a no-hitter in four innings for Warrior Black. He struck out eight of the 12 batters he faced, allowing only one base runner that was hit by a pitch. The base runner was picked off by catcher Cade Gossett to end the inning.

Quartez Henderson led the team at the plate by going 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs. Caleb Ransum was also 3-for-3 with two runs and a RBI. Jaren Lockridge was 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBIs. Jacob Graves went 2-for-3 with two runs and a RBI. Colin Edwards, Anthony Dingler and Zae Wright also added a hit and additional runs.

Mason Rogers and Cade Gossett scored two runs.

In the Warrior Gold loss, Chris Ray had a hit and scored a run. Anthony Dingler was 1-for-3 and also scored a run. Caleb Gravett went 1-for-2 with a RBI. Gunter Gable added an RBI, and Austin Slayton and Jy Lockridge add a run each.
