Arrested, according to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver and Mark Hicks, public information officer, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, was Tracey Brent Shell, 38, who was charged with felony domestic violence.
According to Hicks, Investigator Seth Rochester responded to a call of a person having been shot at a residence located at 9224 Al Hwy 278 East in Cherokee County around 8 a.m. Sunday. Upon arrival on the scene Investigator Rochester learned the victim had been transported by personal vehicle to the Piedmont Police Department and from there transported by ambulance to Gadsden Regional Hospital where she underwent emergency surgery for a bullet wound to the lower leg. Officers interviewed a male subject at the scene. Investigator Rochester arrested one person, Shell, and transported him to the Cherokee County Detention Center.
The victim, Hicks said, has been identified as Alisa Lori Hackney, 48.
Shell remains in the Cherokee County Detention Center awaiting bond, Hicks said,
