Cayla Machleit had 40 assists and three aces in the Lady Warriors’ win over the ninth-ranked Valley Cubs. Haley Highfield came away with nine digs. Lauren Millsaps added two blocks.
“This was a big win for us,” Lady Warrior coach Amy Barnes said. “We are now going into the area tournament
ranked number two. We made a lot of incredible hustle plays and passed the ball very well. We played as a team and just had fun.”
Cherokee County opens the Class 4A, Area 12 tournament with a rematch against the Lady Cubs. That match is set for 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at top-seeded Jacksonville.
