Authorities arrest man in connection to dump truck theft

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a Georgia man in connection with a dump truck which was reported stolen Cherokee County Saturday, July 25.

Arrested, according to reports, was Simon Warren who was charged with theft of property in the first degree. He is currently lodged in the Dade County, Ga. Jail awaiting extradition to Cherokee County.

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, the 1990 Mack truck was taken from the lot beside Kerr’s Ready Mix on Highway 411 between Centre and Leesburg Saturday afternoon or evening. A Georgia State trooper stopped the truck near Trenton, Ga. Saturday evening and after checking the driver and the truck, discovered that the driver had no license and that the truck was stolen.

Warren was arrested and also faces several charges in Georgia, Shaver said.
