The Cherokee Adult Softball League will host the first annual Softball Heroes Tournament Saturday, Aug. 22. The event will be held at the Centre Softball Complex. All profits will be donated to the Cherokee County Red Cross Chapter’s 2009 Heroes Campaign-the organization’s yearly autumn fundraiser.

Registration is now open for tournament participant teams. Information and registration forms may be obtained by telephoning Jason O’Neal-256-557-6377. Teams are asked to register by August 20. There is a team registration fee.

Winning teams will re-ceive valuable prizes. The first place winner will be awarded three Worth bats-considered as one of the best brands in the nation. The second place team will win two bats. The third place award will be one dozen regulation softballs. There will be drawings for prizes for tournament spec-tators. There will be no admission charge for tournament attendees.

The Cherokee Adult Softball Leagues is an af-filiate of the National Softball Association. The local League is a part of the men’s Class D division. The August 22 tournament is sanctioned by the NSA.
