Cherokee County citizens are reminded that the Red Cross Annual Souper Supper and Silent Auction, is set for Saturday, Jan. 27, beginning at 6 p.m., in the American Legion Building in Centre.

As in the past, those attending will be treated to a meal of soup and cornbread followed by an auction in which items donated by local individuals and merchants will be sold to the highest bidder.

The Red Cross Board of Directors discussed the event during its January meeting and plans are proceeding nicely, said Shelby Bruce, chapter manager.

So far, everything's lined up really good," said Mrs. Bruce. "Our auctioneer will be Shane Swafford again. We already have our tickets, our posters and our fliers. They were donated by CRS (Crystal River Services) Printing. We've already got our bidding cards made. We've already sent letters to all of the clubs in the county and there will be follow-up calls made by Margaret Smith to all of them. Ruth Mathews is going to be in charge of decorations.
