Three people were taken into custody following a drug raid, which resulted in the seizure of almost 30 grams of methamphetamine, weapons and cash last week. The raid took place Thursday, July 12, around 5:30 p.m., at the residence of Gary Glenn Hamilton, 41, 450 County Road 470 near Peek’s Crossroads in Cherokee County.

Arrested, according to reports, were Hamilton, along with Pamala Jill Hailey, 44, of Rome, Ga. and Robert Wayne King, 43, of Centre, who were charged with trafficking in methamphetamine.

Agents seized more than 28 grams of meth along with three automobiles, $4,000 in cash, more than 20 guns and other items which officers identified as stolen merchandise. About two grams of powdered cocaine and a small amount of marijuana was also found and they will likely be charged with unlawful possession of marijuana in the second degree, reports said.

“We’ve been investigating this case for a while,” said Chief Deputy Joe Hester with the Cherokee County Drug Task Force. “We got a lot of information coming in. He (Hamilton) is on a dead-end street, so he is kind of hard to watch. People got kind of suspicious when they started seeing vehicles coming in and out that don’t belong there, people who don’t live down there or have any family. People wonder why they are even on that road, especially when traffic is coming in and out late at night. We were getting calls from the community about it.”

The meth, Hester said, carries a street value of more than $10,000. Also seized was a huge surveillance system with cameras outside and inside the residence.

Agencies involved in the operation included the Cherokee County Drug Task Force, SORT (Special Operations Response Team) and Cherokee County deputies, who executed the search warrant, said Hester.

The three were taken into custody with no problems. Hamilton’s bond was set at $50,000 and he posted bond Friday afternoon along with Hailey. More arrests could be pending, Hester said.

“We’re still going through some of the records that were seized,” said Hester. “But there is a possibility. We are reviewing the surveillance tapes now of people who were coming to the residence. He had video cameras running so that if someone pulled into the back yard he was actually taping them, so that can be used as good evidence.
