According to reports, the shooting occurred at a Gossett Street home in East Centre around 5 p.m., when a 13-year-old neighbor took a 7 millimeter rifle out of a gun cabinet to show it to Spinks. The gun discharged as the neighbor turned around, with the bullet striking Spinks in the head.
Spinx was pronounced dead on the scene, said Cherokee County Coroner Don Rogers.
The Centre Police, District Attorney, County investigators and the Department of Forensic Science are investigating the incident.
No ruling on the death had been officially made as of The Herald’s Monday deadline, but the incident appeared to be an accident
