“Last year we modified the way our car riders were dropped off and picked up from school,” said CES Principal Dewayne Pierce in a recent letter to parents. “We had to do this due to the Highway 9 situation. A great many of you have voiced your approval of the way these modifications were made and would like to see them continue on a permanent basis, even though the highway 9 project is FINALLY drawing to completion. You have commented about how much smoother the traffic situation is both in the mornings and afternoons. I also agree that it went very well last year and due to this we will continue with the same pick-up/drop-off schedule. Please understand that the reason this worked so well was due to your willingness to cooperate with us and follow the schedule completely. I am asking once again for your cooperation this year in following this schedule as closely as possible. These procedures will be strictly enforced for the safety of your children. We ask for your full cooperation when dropping your children off in the mornings or picking them up in the afternoon.”
PICK-UP SCHEDULE FOR CAR RIDERS
-Kindergarten: 2:30 p.m. in front of the third grade building
-First Grade: 2:40 p.m. in front of the third grade building
-Second and Third Grade: 2:50 in front of the school
-Fourth and Fifth Grade: 3 p.m. in front of the school
Parents are asked not to pick up their child until the allotted time. Serious traffic problems will result if they do. Do not come early. Those picking up more than one child with two different time slots are asked to come at the latest time slot (older child’s slot). This will allow the older child to receive his or her full day of instruction. The younger child will be held in the library under the supervision of a teacher until you arrive. The time schedule will be strictly obeyed. No one will be allowed to park in front of the school for any length of time. They will be asked to move their car immediately.
No one is to use the road behind the school when picking up children. Traffic jams will occur and will cause serious delays in children being picked up. The gates will be closed and locked should it become a problem.
-Drop off procedures for car riders will be the same as last year. All students will be dropped off in front of the main building. There will be a teacher there each morning for the safety of all the children. No cars will be allowed in the bus loop in the mornings or afternoons. Do not park car in front of the building to walk a child to class. There is not available space for this and violators will be asked to move their car immediately.
School begins at 8 a.m. Children are asked to be in their rooms no later than 7:45 each day. Breakfast begins at 7:30. Parents are urged to see that their children arrive at school on time each day
