Local legislation designed to give voters of the Town of Cedar Bluff the opportunity to decide on alcohol sales has been introduced in the state Senate.

Sen. Larry Means (D-Attalla) introduced Senate Bill 350 last week that would allow residents of Cedar Bluff to have a municipal election on whether to go wet or dry. It was introduced Local Legislation Number 1.

The wording of the legislation requests the Senate and House to approve a local municipal option for residents who reside inside the corporate limits of Cedar Bluff to allow alcohol sales.

Pending in the Senate, Senate Bill 350 was awaiting committee action in the Local Legislation Committee as the legislature returned Tuesday.

Last year, a similar measure was ruled unconstititional by the State Supreme Court. Concerns expressed by the Supreme Court have been researched by Cedar Bluff officials
