An escapee from a Georgia correctional facility was captured in Cedar Bluff Tuesday (Nov. 23) morning with little resistance. However, a second escapee remains at large.

According to Cherokee County Sheriff Larry Wilson, Bradley Bowen was apprehended as he attempted to steal a vehicle around 11 a.m. The sheriff said a call came in to the Cedar Bluff Police Department that an attempted theft of a vehicle was in progress on Westbrook Street.

As Cedar Bluff police chief Steve Walden responded, the suspect ran into the woods, where he was captured within a few minutes.

Bowen and Robert Anthony Hill, 23, earlier had escaped from the Haralson County Correctional Facility in Tallapoosa, Ga.

Wilson said by the time Walden captured Bowen, sheriff’s deputies were on the scene to assist him.

“It didn’t take but a minute,” Wilson said. “They ran him down in the woods and caught him. Steve ran him down.”
