Local law enforcement agents and Cherokee County Board of Education personnel are investigating an incident which occurred between a teacher and a parent Friday, May 6 and led to some excitement Monday, May 9.

According to reports, the Board of Education Central Office received two phone calls from parents and grandparents of a Spring Garden student Monday morning concerning the situation that erupted Friday.

Law enforcement agents, reports said, were dispatched to the school and locked all entrances to the schoolbuilding. Agents remained on the scene for more than an hour and asked at least one subject to leave the premises.

Cherokee County School Resource officers remained on the scene throughout the day and reported no problems.

To protect the privacy and safety of employees and students, Superintendent Brian Johnson was unable to provide more details or discussion, but said education personnel contact local law enforcement agents who are investigating the matter and will take appropriate action as necessary.

Cherokee County Sheriff Larry Wilson said the incident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time
