In a specially-called meeting last Tuesday, the Town of Cedar Bluff Utility Board voted to hire a Gadsden area Certified General Appraiser to appraise the board's lakefront property that is currently up for sale.

The board also reported that Doug Smith, who is one of the two bidders for the above property, is expected to submit a counter offer through Jane Poovey Real Estate.

Board Chairman Donald Sanders noted that the board will set a date to hear any other bids and that the board would have no direct contact with any bidder until after the above appraisal is reviewed.

Sanders added that any person wishing to submit an offer on the property would need to prepare the bids as soon as possible.

Regarding a possible conflict of interest in the above property sale, Sanders noted that he will request town attorney Bill Hawkins to provide a detailed procedure manual on future property sales
