The Town of Leesburg has its finances in order for the next 12 months.

At its Sept. 12 meeting, the Leesburg Town Council announced a $726,205 budget for the 2005-06 fiscal year.

At the request of Vulcan Communications representative Ben Marcus, the council agreed to contribute $655.50 towards the 2005 Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce map and brochure. Marcus noted that his company plans to publish approximately 25,000 maps.

In other business, the council voted not to purchase an advertisement in the Gadsden Times 2005 Progress Edition.

Before adjournment, Mayor Ed Mackey said that he considers the Sept. 10 Leesburg Day a success.

“I thought that the day was lovely, and we haven’t had any bad reports back. As far as I’m concerned, everything went very well.”
