At its Sept. 19 meeting, the Cedar Bluff Utility Board decided not to hire former Town Manager Rickey Steele as a utility board employee.

Steele resigned as Town Manager Sept. 14 following his indictment by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Steele subsequently entered a plea agreement.

Following the board’s unanimous roll call vote, board member Ethel Sprouse presented a job description for the Cedar Bluff Utility Board and Solid Waste Authority Manager.

The board reiterated its recent statement that it is presently not accepting applications for the position
