At the Dec. 5 Leesburg Town Council meeting, the council and event organizers Doyle and Wyn Morgan signed a two-year contract that allowed the festival to be held at the Leesburg RV Park during the last week in October.
The contract called for a $250 fee in 2006 and a $250 option for 2007.
In other business, the council agreed to contribute $100 to the Weiss Lake Bassmasters Association for rod and reel prizes during the 2006 Leesburg Day.
The council also voted to purchase 100 Support Volunteer Firefighters car magnets.
The council tabled a discussion on possible financial contributions to the future Gadsden State-Cherokee County Campus School of Nursing and Community Center.
At its Nov. 14 meeting, the council voted by a 3-1 margin to purchase auctioned real estate property at a cost of $137, 500. The council approved the sale contingent that said property would be developed only as a park. Another stipulation was to restore the Moon house as a senior citizens center, as well as the construction of a future town hall or municipal complex.
In other business, the council agreed to borrow $108,000 plus inspection costs for the towns share of a recently completed paving project. The council also voted to purchase the land on which said project is located for $250,0000.
The council passed Town Resolution No. 2005-7, which calls for the sale of surplus town vehicle.
