According to reports, Early Joe Louis Harp of Centre, lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a power pole in front of Jordan Funeral Home which was approximately 45-feet high, knocking out power to Cherokee Electric Cooperative customers.
Harp was injured in the accident and transported by ambulance to Cherokee Baptist Medical Center, reports said.
A spokesperson for Cherokee Electric Cooperative said power was restored in less than an hour. Co-op crews installed a new pole and rig and completed the job around 3 p.m. Crews made good time completing the task especially with the size of the pole and rig involved, the spokesperson said.
Traffic was slowed in the area while workmen put the new pole in place, reports said.
