A Leesburg woman has realized a long-time dream with the publishing of her book The Mystery of the Healing Waters.

The 54-page work of youth fiction by Anna Gibbs may be purchased through her or through xlibris at or 1-888-795-4274. The ISBN # is 1-4134-4533-0. By the end of March, it will be available through Amazon.com or at Barnes and Noble.

Anna is the wife of Lloyd Gibbs, the minister of Cedar Hill and Bothwell United Methodist Churches in Leesburg. He has been a minister for 17½ years of the 20 years they have been married. They have had five exchange students and have over seen one boy from Korea since 10th grade, a recent graduate of University of North Alabama in Florence, with a degree in accounting who is working in Florence. The Gibbs’ also have two students from Brazil, one from Japan, one from Germany and one from Korea.



Anna is in her seventh year as a Girl Scout leader, and she has worked with youth in the church for 15 years. She currently is not involved as a church youth worker, but does help lead a youth singing group on Wednesday night at Cedar Hill.

A graduate of Westminister Christian Academy in Huntsville, Anna has an associate degree from Calhoun in general studies.

The Mystery of the Healing Waters is about a young girl, Susan, who moves to a new city. She befriends an elderly lady, Mrs. Rausch. Susan solves the mystery of the death of Mrs. Rausch’s best fried Amelia. She also finds an unusual way to help her mother get better, and she falls in love.

The book is historically based on Baily Springs and St. Florian, two small communities north of Florence.



Already, Anna is working on her second and third books. All of her books are actual places that may be visited. All are set in the United States, and the books are printed in the U.S. as well.

Xlibris is her publisher. She self published her book through Xlibris, which helps her with some publicity. She has have positive feedback from the 50 sales and is considering a book tour later after selling close to home or through the mail until the weather warms up.

“I did not think about being a author until a lady in my church read some of my work, when I was a teenager, and said, ‘You write like this and don’t show it to anyone?’ Ann said. “She meant it like it was a shame that I did not. That got me thinking that maybe other people might be interested in my writing. Lloyd has been my main encourager for this book. My mother has passed away but before she died she told me “to never quit writing my stories.” My father’s next door neighbors in Huntsville, Ronald and Mary Terry Graham, have bought 26 books from me! They love it!
