Terry Dean has been promoted to assistant editor at the Cherokee County Herald.

Dean, a graduate of Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, has worked at the paper for 18 years.

“Terry is a real asset to the paper,” said Kathy Roe, editor. “His knowledge of the community and his rapport with our residents make him vital to our newspaper.”

Dean grew up in Rainbow City and graduated from Southside High School, but has lived in Centre for many years.

Dean said he started writing in college for the Auburn Plainsman and went on to pursue a career in journalism.

“I like meeting people and the high point is when they let you know you’ve done a good job,” Dean said
