In Failure to Launch, a romantic comedy that has just been released, Cherokee Rock Village is the backdrop for several scenes in the movie, which stars Matthew McConaughey and Sarah Jessica Parker.
And last weekend, the movie opened at the 411 Drive-In Theatre in Centre.
Its a good movie and there are several clips of Cherokee Rock Village, said Thereasa Hulgan, executive director of the Chamber County Chamber of Commerce.
Hulgan and a group saw a sneak preview in Atlanta of the film.
We especially cheered when we saw our names at the end, she said.
The movie, which also stars Terry Bradshaw and Kathy Bates, is about a thirtysomething guy whose parents trick him into meeting the love of his life in a bid to get him to finally leave home.
The movie will be playing at least two more weekends in Centre, said Rex Johnson, who owns the 411 Drive-In.
Its really funny, Johnson said. Its a once in a lifetime thing to have a movie shot in the county.
The crowds were good over the weekend and everyone seemed to enjoy it, he said
