A Tennessee man has been indicted in federal court for a Sand Rock bank robbery in 2003, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Alice Martin.

Jimmy Doyal Hindman, 61, of Hixson, Tenn., was indicted in the August 2003 robbery at Dekalb Bank in Sand Rock, where he allegedly fled with more than $18,000. The Sand Rock Bank, now closed, was a branch of Dekalb Bank, with headquarters in Crossville. He also was indicted in the August 2005 robbery of Community Bank at Elkmont, where he took about $8,000. In both robberies, Hindman allegedly had a gun.

“Crimes of violence, such as bank robbery, terrorize and frighten innocent victims,” Martin stated.

If convicted, Hindman faces a federal prison sentence of not more than 25 years on each count and not less than seven years on each count of using a firearm in the furtherance of a crime of violence, Martin said
