Plans are shaping up for Centre’s 2006 Fall Festival which is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 7. The event is scheduled from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m.

As in the past, the festival will feature food and craft vendors and entertainment for all ages throughout the day.

Booths should be set up by 7 a.m. Events begin with the Kids Fun Run, with registration starting at 8 a.m. and the race starting at 8:30 a.m.

The Fall Fest committee has lined up a group of square dancers to perform from 9:30 a.m. until 11 p.m. in the Regions Bank Parking Lot. Their performance will be followed by Line Dancers at 11 a.m.

The Annual Fall Festival Parade begins at 10 a.m. down Main Street. This year, the Fall Fest Committee will honor local Veterans and will feature a float with some of the veterans on board. The parade will also include the local high school bands, antique tractors and cars and horses provided by the local saddle club.

“Robin Sings” is scheduled to perform a concert from noon until 1 p.m. in the Regions Bank Parking lot.

Other attractions throughout the day include a return visit by “Little Smidgen,” a clown who made her debut at last year’s festival. She performs magic shows throughout the day. Also making a return visit is Cowboy Bruce Brannen who will perform Wild West entertainment throughout the day.

The Centre Fire Department will sponsor the children’s rides this year, which they will rent from Happenings in Centre. Some of the attractions will include a moonwalk and a slide. The proceeds from these attractions will go toward the fire department.

Booth rentals are $15 each. According to Centre City Clerk Mary Lee Tucker, booths are “going fast”. For more information, call Centre City Hall at (256)927-5222.

The deadline for booth rental is Monday, Sept. 18, but there is a possibility the deadline will be extended, Mrs. Tucker said
