Local law enforcement agents arrested a Centre woman Tuesday, March 27, for allegedly passing a counterfeit bill at a local fast food restaurant. The arrest was made following a traffic stop and search and seizure of the woman’s vehicle and her residence in Centre.

The arrest was a joint effort of the Centre and Cedar Bluff Police Departments. Arrested, according to reports, was Denise Baker who was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of forged instruments.

The Centre Police Department received a report Monday afternoon, March 26 that a female in a Black Chevy Blazer attempted to cash a $20 bill at the drive-through window of the restaurant. She then left the premises and headed toward Cedar Bluff.

Cedar Bluff Police intercepted the vehicle. Officer Jason O’Neal confiscated 24 counterfeit $20 bills and Centre Investigator Arlon Reed confiscated three $20 bills three local businesses Tuesday with the same serial numbers as those confiscated by the Cedar Bluff Police Department.

Agents seized a computer and ink jet printer from Baker’s apartment and also seized copies of $100 bills, $5 bills and $20 bills. They warned that more fake bills could be in circulation in the Centre and Cedar Bluff areas and urged merchants to keep a close eye on their currency
