DeLana Martin was taken to an emergency room where she was treated and released, according to a news release from the Cedar Bluff Police Department.
A corrections officer at the Cherokee County Jail said Robert Martin is being held in the jail. He was arrested and charged Wednesday evening.
The town of Cedar Bluff hired DeLana Martin in January 2006. A former resident of Shawnee, Okla., Martin has lived in Cedar Bluff about seven years.
She had worked in the clerk’s office in Shawnee, Okla, for more than 16 years.
Her husband is a retired Shawnee, Okla., police officer.
Cedar Bluff Police Chief Steve Walden, who released the news release, did not return calls for comment
