Leesburg resident dies in 411 acciden | Loca

A Leesburg resident lost his life as a result of a two-vehicle accident on Highway 411 in Leesburg Thursday afternoon, May 31. The accident occurred around 2:30 p.m.

Drivers involved in the accident, according to the state trooper report, were U.J. Byram, 72, of Leesburg, who was driving a 1991 Toyota Pickup Truck and Stephanie Hilgendorf, 43, of Birmingham who was driving a 2005 Chevy Van.

Byram was airlifted to UAB Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. Hilgendorf was not injured, reports said.

Both southbound lanes of 411 were blocked to traffic for more than an hour as personnel arranged a helicopter landing area, reports said.

Agencies responding included Cherokee EMS Ambulance Service, Alabama State Troopers, Leesburg Police and Fire Departments and the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department
