At the opening ceremonies of Leesburg Day, Mayor Edward Mackey recognized Chief of Police Terrell Ransum, who is retiring in October.

Mackey declared Sept. 8, 2007 as Terrell Ransum Day in Leesburg. During the ceremonies, Chief Ransum was presented a plaque, at right, for his 19 years of service. It was a surprise event with only close family members aware of the special recognition and award.
