The victim, according to reports, was identified as James Maurice Henderson. Arrested was Rodney James Hood who was charged with murder.
According to reports, deputies were called to a shooting on County Road 472 at approximately 8:36 p.m. Upon arrival, the deputies discovered a male subject with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Cherokee County EMS also responded to the location and after checking the victim, called for the Cherokee County Coroner Don Rogers, who responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
The Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences also responded to the scene to assist with processing the scene and evidence collection. The suspect had fled the scene and was later taken into custody at another location, reports said.
Hood is presently lodged in the Cherokee County Detention Center. No bond has been set at this time
