The Cherokee County Sheriffs Office with the help of all other law enforcement agencies in the county have arrested eight people in connection with drug dealing.
Law officers raided two residences on County Road 472 in an area called The Hole and arrested six people Tuesday for drug dealing. Two other suspects later turned themselves in to the Sheriffs Office. Three other arrests were made during the operation for outstanding warrants.
Charged were James Kent Woods, 61, of Centre, two counts of unlawful distribution of crack cocaine; Jarrod Montrela Simpson, 26, of Cedar Bluff, three counts of unlawful distribution of crack cocaine; Constance Maria McKnight, 40, of Centre, two counts of unlawful distribution of crack cocaine; Fredrick Wayne Diamond, 27, of Centre, unlawful distribution of crack cocaine; Robert Levon Henderson Jr., 56, of Centre, four counts of unlawful distribution of crack cocaine and three counts of distribution of controlled substances; Edward Ladale Johnson, 32, of Centre, four counts of unlawful distribution of crack cocaine; Andrew Lamar Griffin, 19, of Centre, failure to pay for driv-ing while license suspended and failure to pay for possession of marijuana; Otis Ray Daniel, 38, of Centre, failure to pay for driving under the influence; Donald Dewayne Wood, 44, of Piedmont, pro-bation violation.
Also arrested at the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office were Hersey Sirlester Houston, 38, of Centre, four counts of unlawful distribution of crack cocaine, and Chad Dale Henderson, 28, of Centre, eight counts of distributing controlled substances and one count of conspiracy to distribute con-trolled substances.
Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver said the Sheriffs Office Drug Unit, deputy sheriffs, Cedar Bluff police officers, Leesburg police officers, Alabama Marine police officers, and Alabama state troopers teamed up on the drug raid.
Every agency in the county helped, Shaver said. Were committed to arresting those who sell drugs.
Shaver commended Drug Unit Commander Chas Clifton who gives 110 percent all of the time.
