A methamphetamine lab and ingredients used in the making of the drug were seized Wednesday afternoon at 2010 County Road 65 in Centre. Marijuana also was taken in the raid, Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver said.

The arrest of two individuals was the result of a lengthy investigation by agents of the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit, Shaver said.

Arrested were: Dorothy Louise Simpson, 55, of Centre. She was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine in the first degree and unlawful possession of controlled substances - methamphetamine, and unlawful possession of marijuana in the second degree.

Also arrested: Kenneth Allen Ayers, 53, of Centre, with the same charges.

Members of the Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit were on the scene for several hours while it was processed and cleaned, Shaver said. They were assisted by agents of the Alcoholic Beverage Control State Police
