Bond was set at $75,000 on each count for a man arrested in connection with arson fires on Gossett Street in Centre. The bond hearing for Billy Joe Hicks, 56, was held Wednesday afternoon, March 26.



Hicks was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon, March 25 and charged with two counts of arson in connection with two fires that occurred at 226 Gossett Street. One fire occurred Saturday morning, March 22 and the other occurred Tuesday morning, March 25.

Both fires were investigated by Homeowner Gerald Cullen, Centre Fire Department, Centre Police Department, Alabama State Fire Marshals, Cherokee County District Attorney's Office and Dekalb County's K-9 Unit.

Hicks lived next door to the residence at 230 Gossett Street. Further charges may be forthcoming
