The Humane Society raised more than $750 from the event at the Centre Fire Department because Nichols donated the vaccine and his time.
Humane Society treasurer Ethel Sprouse said the event was a huge success and will help raise awareness about pets care and vaccinations.
Nichols staff and volunteer firefighters helped register the animals. Fire Chief Kevin Ware helped organize the clinic on Main Street.
The Humane Society plans to do more of the clinics. Alabama law requires that dogs and cats be vaccinated once a year for rabies.
A few of the pets wanted to stay in their vehicles, so staff members took the shots to them. Some had to be muzzled, but no one got too nasty about it, volunteers said.
Shirley Bowman, Amy Prater, Tonya Abernathy and Crystal Jackson, who work with Dr. Nichols, helped give the shots.
The Humane Society also had pets available for adoption and one puppy was adopted that afternoon.
The animal welfare group is planning a yard sale on April 26 at Leesburg.
