The 2000 Class 1A state track and field champion Cedar Bluff Lady Tigers are ready to roar in 2001, as the Lady Tigers got their season off to a good start in a season-opening win against Cherokee County on March 21.

Junior Burgandy Wickham, who also competes in the long jump, 400-meter relay and 200-meter run, led the pack down the stretch to capture the 100-meter dash.

Wickham, Christina Gettrost, Sangina Moten and Shannon Dupree also placed first, as the Tiger quartet won the 1600-meter relay event.

Moten will replace graduated senior Devra Williams on the 2000 state champion relay team
