It was more of the same Friday night as Cherokee County (1-7, 1-5) suffered a 49-0 Class 4A, Region 6 loss at Alexandria (4-3, 3-3).

Alexandria’s defense allowed only four first downs, three in Cherokee County’s final possession. The Warriors (1-7, 1-5) punted eight times.

Not until their final drive of the game did the Warriors get any offense going. Until that point, Cherokee County had been limited to a single first down and had been forced to punt eight times. The Warriors managed three first downs in that final possession.

Will Ginn proved a big thorn to the Warriors, hitting on 9 of 12 passes for 233 yards and four touchdowns, all in the first half. With touchdown passes of 8, 28, 47 and 12 yards, Ginn gave Alexan-dria a 35-0 halftime bulge.

Freshman Jeffrey Wood had 64 yards on 16 carries for Cherokee County. His 23-yard run gave the Warriors their lone first-half first down. Skylar Ray had three rushes for nine yards.

Ray completed 7-of-15 passes for 80 yards.

Jason St. Clair caught two passes for 52 yards, while Anthony Matthews grabbed two for 28.
