Cherokee County’s Perimeter Pals made the Warrior Dome’s three-point line sizzle against Sand Rock on Jan. 21.

Jordan Morgan connected on six three-point shots while Ashley Hellums knocked down five treys to lead CCHS (14-7) to a 73-66 victory over the Lady Wildcats.

Morgan notched four of her treys in the third period, including three straight that gave the Lady Warriors a two-point lead heading into the final quarter.

Amanda Crane’s basket tied the score early in the fourth, but the Centre squad outscored the Lady Rockers 19-12 down the stretch to secure the win.

Hellums finished with 30 points, while Morgan tallied 21.

Crane and Taylor Burt each scored 20 points for Sand Rock, with Burt sinking four three-point baskets.

Hally Starr pulled down seven rebounds, while Hellums and Jessica Griffith each had six and Morgan and Tadshi Dupree four each.

The visitors took 16-14 lead after the first eight minutes, while four points each by Crane and Christina Jacoway gave the Lady Wildcats a 24-19 advantage at 4:42 of the second frame.

Morgan hit consecutive three pointers to draw the hosts within 28-25 at the three-minute mark, while Hellums’ two straight treys and jump shot provided CCHS a three-point lead with 15 seconds remaining.

Crane’s lay-up at the buzzer drew the Lady Wildcats within 36-35 at the half.

Thrisa King’s basket and Hellums’ three-pointer early in the third quarter made it a six-point lead, while Morgan’s consecutive treys put the hosts up 47-35 at 5:40.

Sand Rock refused to go quietly, as Tamara Francis’ basket at 5:47 sparked a 17-3 Wild-cat run that was capped by Burt’s trey at 1:55 and gave the visitors a 52-50 advantage.

Hellums’ free throw at 53.6 drew the hosts within one, and Morgan’s three-pointer with 13 seconds left regained the Cherokee County lead at 54-52.

Crane’s basket 50 seconds into fourth forced a tie, but Jessica Griffith’s five points in the last 90 seconds helped CCHS raise its record to 14-7.
