Gaylesville (3-3, 1-2) fell to Collinsville 69-57 last Friday, but rebounded for a 71-62 victory over Westbrook Christian on Saturday.

In the loss against the Panthers, Chris Perry scored 20 points, followed by Chris Steele with 18, Casey Blanken-ship with 11 and Jerry Stancil with six.

Stancil pulled down nine rebounds, while Perry, Nick James and Jesse Cavin had five each.

Perry distributed five assists, while Blankenship had three blocks.

In the Trojan’s win over the Warriors, Blankenship scored 21 points, including six 3-point baskets.

Steele followed with 18 points, while Stancil had nine and James eight.

Stancil and Jesse Cavin each grabbed 10 rebounds.

Perry dished out eight assists, followed by Steele with six.

Blankenship came up with five steals and blocked two shots.

Blankenship helped the Trojans get off to a fast start with three 3-point baskets in the first period, and with four seconds left on the clock and the score tied at 21-21, Steele made a three point shot to put Gaylesville ahead 24-21 entering the second quarter.

Steele repeated his sharpshooting late in the second period, scoring another basket from the three-point line with 0.3 seconds remaining in the first half for a 44-31 Gaylesville halftime lead.

The Warriors’ Jamie Hollingsworth tried to close the gap in the third period with three 3-pointers, but Blanken-ship contributed another three-pointer for Gaylesville, his fifth of six for the night.



With two free throws each from Steele and Stancil, the Trojans continued to lead the way, ending the third period with a 58-46 lead.

Perry made 5-of-10 attempts from the free throw line in the fourth quarter, while Steele and Blankenship made their fourth and sixth three-point baskets, respectively.
