Due in large part to his 2,068 yards of total offense this past football season, Cedar Bluff senior running back Mark Clifton was recently named as Class 1A, Region 6 Co-Offensive MVP.

Clifton shared the top offensive honors with Ragland running back Jamal Brock.

Ragland’s Riley St. John was selected as the region’s Defensive MVP, while the Purple Devil’s Keith Howard was named Coach of the Year.

The regional runners-up Tigers placed five players on the squad, including senior tight end Brandon Langley, senior lineman T.J. Henderson, senior lineman Brandon White, junior lineman Josh Hampton and sophomore running back Jeremy Bryant.

From Gaylesville is senior quarterback Chris Steele and senior receiver Chris Perry, while senior running back Carl Hairrell represents Spring Garden.

From Collinsville is junior linebacker Ellis Lance.

The area Honorable Mention squad features Cedar Bluff’s Derek Chesnut and Matt Wilson, Gaylesville’s Nick James and Jerry Stancil, Spring Garden’s Skooter Crawford and Collinsville’s Rigoberto Barrientos.

Ragland’s first-teamers include seniors Justin Campbell and Edwin Rogers and juniors Jarod Poe, Sheldon Estes, Cord Soles and Joey Paloino.

Section contributes senior Kyle Vaughn, Cody Myers, Rusty Varner and Blake Akins.

From Valley Head are senior Jeremy Edgeworth and Robert Brown and sophomore Tyler Harrison.

Appalachian selections are seniors Luke Nicodemus and Ashley Gargus.

Rounding out the Honorable Mention team is Ragland’s Kody Winn, Dustin Alexander and Tyler Daffron; Section’s Brett Hayes, Casey Durham and Eric Haynes; Valley Head’s Coby Harrison, Nick Floyd and Johnny Ferguson, and Appalachian’s Jesus Covarrubias, Christopher Qualls and Blake Walker
