Brandon Langley’s one-year high school football career ended with another first: 1st Team All-State selection.

Cedar Bluff’s 6’3”, 225 pound All-County and All-Region sen-ior was named as Class 1A’s top tight end after catching 28 passes for 617 yards and nine touchdowns and grading 80 percent or better on his blocking assignments.

Langley, who is being recruited by Jacksonville State, Middle Tennessee State, North Alaba-ma and Samford, also had 55 tackles and two interceptions at linebacker.

Tiger All-State honors also included 5’7” senior running back Mark Clifton, who was named 1A Honorable Mention Best Athlete.

Clifton, who has drawn interest from North Alabama, Carson-Newman and Tennessee-Chattanooga, rushed 159 times for 1,368 yards, caught 15 passes for 255 yards and returned seven kickoffs for 415 yards and one touchdown.

He also had seven passes defended and three interceptions, one returned for a 54-yard touchdown.

6’0”, 290 senior tackle T.J. Henderson, a 2002 first-team selection made the 1A Honorable Mention squad.

A four-year starter, Henderson graded out 80% or better in 42 high school games. Henderson was the standout on an offensive line that helped the Tigers average 36.8 points per game.

Gaylesville’s Chris Steele and Cherokee County’s Adam Wickham also made the Honorable Mention squads, the former as a 1A defensive back and the latter as a 4A punter.

Steele, a 5’10” All-County and All-Region senior, was second in the county with 152 tackles and had five fumble recoveries and two interceptions.

A 6’1”, 185 lb senior, Wickham punted 39 times for a 53.6 average
