The Warriors managed to get it within seven points by the end of the third quarter, but Alexandria went on a 13-7 run in the fourth quarter, with Ginn scoring 13 points in the final period to help the Valley Cubs give the Warriors their first January loss.
For the Valley Cubs Will Ginn had 28 points, followed by Brian Ginn with 14 and 8 boards.
Quentin Price led Cherokee County with 19 points, while Maurice Dupree had 17.
Ryan Law scored seven points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
Trailing the Valley Cubs 13-12 at the end of the first period, that score would be the closest that CCHS would come to getting a lead.
Alexandria opened up the game with an 11-2 run, but the Warriors rallied back, led by Price’s two three-point baskets in the first period.
Alexandria outscored the Warriors 23-14 in the second quarter.
CCHS continued to chip away at this lead, and went into the half with Alexandria leading 36-27.
Although Cherokee County outscored the Valley Cubs in the third period, CCHS could not gain a lead.
Alexandria used a stall offense to hold the Warriors high-powered offense to only two points in the last two minutes of the game.
