Gaylesville’s opportunity for a Class 1A, Region 7 title evaporated in Valley Head last Friday.

The Trojans’ 34-20 loss combined with Cedar Bluff’s win over Gaston left Gaylesville (5-3, 4-2) to fight for the region’s third and fourth spots with Valley Head (5-3, 4-2) and Collinsville (4-4, 3-3).

For Gaylesville, Cain Higgins gained 73 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries. He also completed 3-of-11 passes for 22 yards.

Zac Mobbs had two catches for 13 yards.

Daniel Steele had 10 tackles, followed by Mobbs and Tyler White with nine each and Adam Sharpe with eigh
