Sand Rock senior quarterback Stimpson recently was named Offensive Player of the Year of the Class 2A, All-Region 7 football team.

This past season, Stimpson completed 134-of-208 pa-sses for 1,423 yards and 18 touchdowns while leading the Wildcats to a 6-5 record and a second straight playoff berth.

Section’s Cory Crawford and Fyffe’s Chris Johnson were selected as the region's co-Defensive Players of the Year.

Other Sand Rock players on the first team were senior wide receiver Barry Agan, senior lineman Bron Bolton and senior defensive back Brian Dorsett.

Named to the first team from Piedmont was senior receiver A.J. Young, senior defensive end Richard Stone, senior linebacker Kevin Bedwell and senior lineman Mark Formby.

Sand Rock senior linebacker Tyler Daniel made the Honorable Mention team, along with Piedmont’s Adam Holcomb, Kyle Glover, Daniel Hammett, Wesley Minton and Jonathan Ray.

Rounding out the first team offense was Section quarterback Stormy Stevens, Section running back Cody White, Fyffe running back Kyler Adams, Fyffe receiver Michael Wooden, Fyffe linemen Chris Graben and Doug Davis, Section lineman Chris McCrary and Fyffe placekicker Jake Ridgeway.

The first team defense also featured Westminister Christian lineman Josh Cyr, Section lineman Hunter Gist, Fyffe lineman Jessie Butterfield, Fyffe linebacker Parker Whitten, North Sand Mountain linebacker Ethan Gilbert, Ider linebacker Clay Bowen, Section defensive back Greg Massy, Brindlee Mountain defensive back Jonathan Wall, Fyffe defensive back Dustin Bryant and Brindlee Mountain punter Derrick Roberts.

North Sand Mountain’s Dale Anderson was selected All-Region Athlete.

Also making the Honorable Mention team were North Sand Mountain’s Evan Short, J.T.
