The Cedar Bluff baseball team is one win away from securing its third straight area championship.

Last Tuesday (Apr. 17), the Tigers posted a 13-1 victory over Class 1A, Area 13 opponent Spring Garden.

A win over area rival Gaylesville today (Apr. 19) would give Cedar Bluff the area title over Gaston based upon non-area 1A win totals for the season. The Tigers currently have a 2-0 to a 1-1 advantage over the Bulldogs.

Should Cedar Bluff defeat the Trojans, the Tigers will host Area 11 runner-up Meek this Tuesday (Apr. 24).

Winning pitcher Jamie Hampton allowed no hits while striking out seven in four innings. He helped his cause by going 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs.

Also for the homestanding Tigers, Cruz Butts went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs.

Lucas Pruett went 2-for-3 with three RBIs, while Lane Colbert went 2-for-3
