Cherokee County halted a three-game losing streak just in time last Friday.

The Warriors’ 33-0 Class 4A, Region 6 victory over Jacksonville allowed CCHS to control its own destiny for the postseason. If Cherokee County (4-4, 4-2) wins against Boaz (6-2, 4-2) on Friday, the Warriors are in the playoffs.

Wesley Carter’s blocked punt set up Cherokee County’s first score on the night, a 14-yard Coty Blanchard-to-Caleb Crane touchdown pass that made it 6-0 at 4:01 of the first quarter.

Matt McElroy returned a punt 60 yards for a touchdown to increase the CCHS to 12-0.

The Centre squad went 19-0 on Blanchard’s 40-yard scoring pass to Gabriel Chambers at the 7:06 mark of the second period.

On the next CCHS possession, Blanchard and D.J. Fife teamed up on a 63-yard touchdown pass to give the Warriors a 26-0 advantage with 3:27 remaining before halftime.

CCHS capped the scoring in the third quarter with McElroy’s 16-yard touchdown run.

Blanchard completed 9-of-13 passes for 178 yards.
